ITR filers will see two new banks added for e-Pay tax services this time — IDFC First Bank (added on November 27, 2024) and Tamilnad Merchantile Bank (March 5, 2025).
The ITR filing for AY 2025-26 is set to start on April 1, 2025.
The income tax department has released a list of 30 banks that are now available for e-Pay tax services at e-filing portal for the income tax returns (ITRs). ITR filers will see two new banks added for e-Pay tax services this time — IDFC First Bank (added on November 27, 2024) and Tamilnad Merchantile Bank (March 5, 2025).
“e-Pay Tax service is now enabled for Tamilnad Merchantile Bank Limited with retail net banking and over-the-counter options,” according to the income tax department’s e-filing portal.
With this, a total of 30 banks are available for online tax payments on the e-filing portal.
The banks include HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, SBI, Axis Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Bandhan Bank, Bank of Baroda, Central Bank of India, DCB Bank, Federal Bank, IDBI Bank, IndusInd Bank, Indian Overseas Bank, Indian Bank, Karnataka Bank, Jammu & Kashmir Bank, and Karur Vysya Bank.
Other are Punjab & Sind Bank, Punjab National Bank, Union Bank, South Indian Bank, RBL Bank, UCO Bank, Bank of Maharashtra, Canara Bank, City Union Bank, Dhanlaxmi Bank, Bank of India, IDFC First Bank, and Tamilnad Merchantile Bank.
What Is E-Pay Tax Service On E-Filing Portal?
The E-Pay Tax service on the Income Tax e-Filing portal is an online facility provided by the income tax department of India to enable taxpayers to pay their taxes digitally. This service allows individuals, businesses, and other entities to pay direct taxes such as advance tax, self-assessment tax, regular assessment tax, TDS/TCS payments, and demand payments conveniently from their bank accounts.

Taxpayers can make payment through non-authorised banks with NEFT/RTGS and payment gateway at e-Pay Tax service at e-Filing portal.
When Will ITR Filing Start for Assessment Year 2025-26?
The ITR filing is set to start on April 1, 2025. When the offline utilities and online forms are enabled on the e-filing portal, the income tax department will notify on its website.
The last date to file the income tax return will be July 31, 2025, for those who do not require audit.
