Prince Harry, Meghan Markle’s next move is ‘critical’ amid mounting backlash

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are plummeting in their popularity in a country which once welcomed them with open arms.

The couple once represented an institution that promoted national unity but the Duke and Duchess of Sussex now seem to cause division whatever they do, according to The Sun royal correspondent Richard Palmer.

He noted that US newspapers and television channels used to put Meghan on a pedestal as their “American princess who had been traduced by racist Brits” but with time the views have become “more divided.”

British PR guru Mark Borkowski shared that the Pat Tillman honour has “backfired” and the Sussexes should “worry” about their next move.

Moreover, Autumn Brewington, a longtime royal commentator and former Washington Post journalist, shed light on the Sussex matter, stating, “Americans don’t really make a distinction between royalty and celebrity and to most Americans royalty is just another form of celebrity.”

She added that Americans don’t really care about the couple anymore since they did not follow through with the many promises they made after exiting the Royal Family.

“Harry and Meghan have said they are going to do a lot of things that nobody has actually seen them do yet,” she said.

Brewington surmised that given the failure of Meghan’s $20million podcast deal with Spotify, and their pending projects, they need to “move on from complaining and focus on following through with their promises.
