Alexa PenaVega shared that Dancing With The Stars put a strain on her relationship with her husband, Carlos PenaVega.
On November 4th, Alexa appeared on the Sex, Lies, and Spray Tans podcast, where she opened up about the challenges they faced while competing in season 21 of the popular show.
Although the couple joined the show together, the 36-year-old admitted it was difficult watching each other dance so closely with their partners.
“It is incredibly flirty,” Alexa explained.
She added that, to avoid any issues, they set strict boundaries while competing on the show.
“We literally said, ‘We don’t know how spouses do this show without doing it the way we did.'”
The Spy Kids alum shared that her husband, whom she married in 2014, used to be quite jealous and insecure at the time, finding it challenging to watch her dance with someone else.
Alexa, who placed sixth in the competition, and Carlos, who placed fourth, emphasized the importance of boundaries.
Alexa further explained that if interactions with her dance partner ever got flirty, she would shut them down immediately, regardless of how it might come across.
The mother of three expressed that defining their relationships with their dance partners was crucial to protect their own relationship.
