Chappell Roan has decided to cancel two upcoming festival performances as she openly battles with depression and other mental health issues.
The 26-year-old singer was slated to perform at the All Things Go music festival in New York City on September 28 and in Columbia, Maryland, the following day.
But just a day prior to her first show, Roan took to Instagram to announce her decision, revealing that the pressures of her rising fame had become “overwhelming” over “the past few weeks.”
In her post, she wrote, “I apologise to the people who have been waiting to see me in NYC & DC this weekend at All Things Go, but I am unable to perform.”
The Good Luck, Babe singer added, “I feel pressures to prioritise a lot of things right now and I need a few days to prioritise my health.”
All Things Go festival shared their support in a statement, emphasising that health and well-being come first. They urged fans to rally around Roan, saying, “Music fans support not just the art, but the artists themselves.”
This isn’t the first time Roan has had to cancel shows. Last month, she also called off two dates in Paris and Amsterdam, and recently expressed in an interview with The Face that she “might quit” the industry if it becomes too overwhelming.
