Shania Twain speaks about anxiety ahead of hosting People’s Choice Country Awards

Shania Twain expressed her anxiety about hosting the big night in a recent interview.

The country star, who began her career when she was eight years old, told Taste of Country this week, “I’m a very spontaneous speaker and thinker, so if I get rambling, they might have to take the hook out and get me off the stage.”

The 59-year-old shared that she has dealt with stage fright her entire career.

In a previous interview, the Man! I Feel Like A Woman! songstress told CTV, “I think the only way to deal with it would be for me to just forget about what I was doing and jump right into her feelings of nervousness before hosting the big night.”

Looking back at her early career, she added, “I’m still the 8-year-old who is afraid to go on stage and as soon as I’m embraced by the audience, then I don’t feel like I’m standing alone.”

The Honey, I’m Home hitmaker noted, “Once I’m with the people, I’m fine.”

She talked of the People’s Choice Country Awards, discussing her plan to enjoy the event, “My responsibility is to host hard-working artists, to take my hat off to their talents and to join the fans in celebrating the music they love the most. I’m there as a fan.”

The Grammy winner shared that she is more excited than afraid, and will be filled with “adrenaline” more than “nerves, you know, just feeling excited, building up to meeting artists that I haven’t met yet.”

The award ceremony took place on September 26th and marked the second year of the annual celebration of country music.
