Food vloggers today often showcase a wide variety of cuisines. From street snacks to culinary delights from different regions, the diversity, flavours and raw ingredients have always sparked lively discussions. The cultural differences in food, even within a 1000-km radius, never fail to capture our attention. Recently, a video making waves on Instagram features an Indian vlogger on his journey to explore Indonesia’s local cuisine. However, he was left utterly shocked when he discovered a street vendor selling snake meat as a popular snack in the country.

The video began with the content creator standing in front of a food stall in Indonesia, selling snake meat. He was heard explaining how the Indonesians savour the absolutely unconventional animal meat in Jakarta like the Indians love to eat chowmein and momos.

He then shows his viewers – a customer, seemingly an Indonesian, standing in the queue, waiting for his order – snake’s blood. The social media influencer also explains that Cobra’s price in Indonesia is equal to INR 1000, and the people in the country believe that ‘Cobra meat’ is immensely beneficial for good skin and immunity. He also shows how the Cobra snack is prepared – a man was seen taking out a snake from a cage full of species and grilling them before serving it to the customers.

The video was quick to go viral and has been viewed over 42 million times.

Soon, social media users started reacting to it. One user mentioned, “One day I will go there and teach them how to make pulses and rice.” Another mentioned, “It has been proved that the most dangerous animal on this earth is human.” Someone jokingly said, “Snake as a snack.”

A section of viewers also compared the ‘snakes’ over there with their ‘exes’ or ‘friends’ or ‘relatives’ and penned hilarious comments. One of them wrote, “What are my friends doing here.” Another added, “My ex will also be there, look inside?”
