Zalando, one of Europe’s leading online destinations for fashion and lifestyle, is scaling its existing AI-powered offerings Zalando Assistant and Trend Spotter. While Trend Spotter now includes four additional cities, the beta version of the Zalando Assistant is now available to logged-in customers across our 25 markets in the respective local language. Both initiatives are in line with Zalando’s commitment to offering customers an even more engaging and inspiring experience on its web and app.

Zalando’s AI assistant, powered by Zalando’s own models and OpenAI’s large language models, now offers logged-in customers in all markets personalised fashion advice in local languages. It enables customers to navigate Zalando’s extensive assortment with intuitive queries such as “What should I wear to my dad’s 60th birthday in November in Barcelona?” The assistant understands context – such as location, weather, and occasion – to make informed recommendations.

“We know our customers want to get inspired when they come to Zalando. Therefore, the rollout of our Zalando Assistant to all markets is  a significant step in our commitment to enhancing the customer experience by making it easier for customers to discover fashion that suits their unique style and needs,” says Tian Su, VP Personalisation and Recommendation at Zalando. “At the same time, we’re now offering customers even more local inspiration by adding four new cities to our Trend Spotter – featuring emerging trends from 10 European fashion capitals in total.”

Zalando expands its AI offerings with the Zalando Assistant and Trend Spotter.
The Assistant, now available in all 25 markets, offers personalised fashion advice in local languages using AI.
Trend Spotter adds four new cities, showcasing emerging trends from 10 fashion capitals weekly.
These updates enhance customer experience and engagement, supporting Zalando’s pan-European fashion ecosystem.

Following the successful implementation in six key markets, Zalando has now made its Trend Spotter available to customers in all its markets and introduced four new cities: Amsterdam, London, Warsaw and Zurich. Powered by Zalando’s own data, customers can discover emerging trends in ten different fashion capitals every week and see what is trending locally and across Europe. Each featured item comes with an explanation of why it is listed in Trend Spotter that week and whether it is related to a global or local trend.

These developments mark another step forward in Zalando’s journey to building the leading pan-European ecosystem for fashion and lifestyle e-commerce. Zalando remains committed to innovation and excellence, ensuring that every customer interaction is tailored, inspiring, and impactful – empowering customers to have fun and feel confident in their fashion choices and lifestyles.
